Are you often feeling overwhelmed, worried that something will go wrong, or finding yourself fixated on the worst case scenario and having a hard time imagining other outcomes? Or maybe you find yourself overthinking, replaying situations again and again in your mind, obsessing over what other people think? Possibly you’ve started to feel panicky or uncomfortable in your own skin? Or maybe you are experiencing actual panic attacks?
In our modern society, there are a number of different factors that could be contributing to these symptoms. We are over stimulated and constantly processing significant amounts of information. We are living through multiple catastrophic world events (climate crisis, ongoing genocide, loss or threatened loss of our human rights, etc). And many of us feel the unending pressure of needing to produce and to keep up to simply survive under capitalism. It’s not shocking that an increasing number of people are suffering from anxiety.
When you work with me, you will learn strategies to reduce anxiety via multiple therapeutic modalities. I often incorporate mindfulness and somatic exercises to bring awareness to what is happening within our bodies and to reduce avoidance tendencies (which actually make anxiety worse in the long run). I will impart strategies to bring your nervous system out of “fight or flight” and back into your “rest and digest” state. We may also explore cognitive strategies to change the way you think about things. Instead of hyper focusing on the worst case scenario, we will work to develop a more balanced outlook. After all, anxiety can make us overestimate the likelihood of a negative outcome and underestimate our ability to handle such outcomes.
And when your anxiety is an appropriate response to the situations in your life or the world at large, how do you cope with that? How do you manage? We can unpack what it means to be existing under the current societal structures and what that means for our mental health and well-being. How do we find wellness when the world at large is so unwell? What can we do when we feel so powerless to these existing power structures?
Whatever the source of your anxiety, I will use an integrated approach tailored to you. We will unpack your anxiety, identify root causes, and learn tools and strategies to bring your mind and body back into alignment.
Struggling with low self-esteem or a diminished sense of self-worth can feel like an invisible barrier that holds you back from living the life you want. It can affect how you see yourself, how you interact with others, and how you approach challenges and opportunities. If you find yourself constantly doubting your value, feeling "not good enough," or seeking validation from others, you're not alone—many people experience these feelings at some point in their lives.
When self-esteem and self-worth are low, it can affect every area of your life—from your relationships to your career, and even your physical health. It might lead to feelings of inadequacy, shame, or isolation, and can make it difficult to pursue your goals or stand up for your needs. Whether you're dealing with chronic self-doubt, imposter syndrome, or simply want to cultivate more self-confidence, therapy offers the tools and support needed to overcome these challenges.
When we work together, my goal is to help you break free from this cycle and rediscover your inherent value. Together we will work to build a healthier relationship with yourself, increase your confidence, and empower you to lead a more fulfilling life. Some of the ways we may do this is through exploring and understanding how these self-limiting beliefs formed. We will unpack the messaging you’ve received around our own worth and your own needs and ultimately work to develop more accurate beliefs about yourself.
A lack of self-worth can also make it hard to set and maintain boundaries with others. Through our work, you can learn to recognize your needs and assertively communicate them in a way that honors yourself. We will also explore how to forgive yourself for past mistakes, embrace your imperfections, and practice self-compassion. Through goal-setting, self-reflection, and skill-building, you'll feel more empowered to make decisions that align with your true values.
You deserve to feel worthy, confident, and empowered in all areas of your life. If you're ready to take the first step toward a healthier, more positive sense of self, reach out to schedule a consultation.
Life is full of change. Whether it’s a positive shift like a new job, marriage, or moving to a new city, or a more challenging transition such as the end of a relationship, loss, or a significant life event, navigating change can be difficult and overwhelming. Even the most exciting transitions can bring up feelings of uncertainty, fear, or doubt.
Therapy for life transitions provides a supportive and structured space to help you navigate these changes with greater clarity, resilience, and confidence. When we work together, we can explore and understand your emotions, helping you gain clarity on what’s happening internally and allowing you to process any conflicting feelings. We will also work to better understand your values as a way to guide you through the change.
Life transitions can often trigger stress, anxiety, and grief. You might feel overwhelmed by the change, unsure how to move forward, or stuck in the emotional challenges of the transition. Through our work, we can identify tools to manage stress, regulate your emotions, and develop healthy coping mechanisms for difficult times.
Through therapy, you can strengthen your ability to adapt to change, develop coping strategies, and learn how to respond to challenges in a way that aligns with your values and long-term goals. We may also work through feelings of insecurity, build confidence in your decision-making, and identify practical steps toward a clear path forward.
If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed by a recent or anticipated life transition, therapy can provide the support you need to gain clarity and move forward. While life transitions can be difficult, they also provide the chance for growth, self-discovery, and the opportunity to redefine your life moving forward. If you're ready to take the next step in navigating a life transition, reach out to schedule a consultation today.
